Phase Two

100 Years of Arts in the Community
Location: Derbyshire

To celebrate their hundredth anniversary in 2002, Ilkeston Arts Club wanted to stage a special Centenary Exhibition complemented with a much wider project including publication of a commemorative brochure.

The Club wanted to involve the whole local community in investigating how the town's architecture, landscapes and lifestyles had changed over the last century. This would be achieved through research into the Club’s own archives, and those of the local press, libraries, and museum.

As well as establishing valuable links with local schools and colleges, the Club would invite members of the public to contribute, and hold an open exhibition featuring a number of workshops.
