100 years of arts in the community - Phase 2
Location: Derbyshire
Following the success of the original project the group secured funding for phase two. This second phase involved a archival record called the Centenary Exhibition Catalogue. This was made up of photographs of the exhibits and paintings, combined with their descriptions.
Among the artefacts donated to the club by members of the public during phase one, was 8mm film dating from the 1940’s and 50’s of Ilkeston and the surrounding district. This film was then converted to video/DVD format with additional images from the present. A voice-over was added to produce a ‘then & now’ result.
A local video enthusiasts group worked with Ilkeston Arts Club on the audiovisual aspect. Slide donations were transferred to computer and used as part of an Audio Visual presentation called ‘The Customs and Traditions of Derbyshire as seen in the past'. Workshops in photography took place in the local schools to enable them to take part in this heritage project.
