Glossop Brook Interpretation Project
Location: Derbyshire

Glossop's historical associations with the development of the textile industry are still in evidence throughout the town, many focused around Glossop Brook that runs through its centre.

This project involved the production of a strategy and design guide, production and installation of signage and interpretation features. An exhibition focusing on Glossop's industrial heritage and the importance of Glossop Brook to the development of the town was also held.

The project has helped promote greater use of Harehills Park and the wider Glossop Brook corridor as well as enhancing character and identity of the town and increasing usage of public space. It has presented a more welcoming image for town and quality experience for locals and visitors by giving Glossop a distinct identity.

By developing the co-ordinated design for signage and interpretation to connect riverside walk areas to the town centre, the group have increased understanding and appreciation of the rich heritage of river valley and helped to foster the idea of guardianship of environment.
