Historical Artefacts Restoration & Presentation
Location: Derbyshire

This initiative involved members of this very small community (approx. 150) investigating the history behind three historic artefacts located within the village church.

A George IV Armorial Canvas, in poor condition, was restored by the community following professional training of local volunteers by an expert. Its history was investigated and recorded.

A 19th century wall-mounted Covenant, again in poor condition, was restored and put back on public display. The content of the covenant, the family involved and any continuing links with the village were recorded.

Finally, 150 plumbers' footprints, etched into the lead roof of the 12th century bell tower, were copied and publicly displayed for the first time.

The progress of the project was detailed in the village newsletter and by a series of displays, presentations and exhibitions in the summer of 2002.
