Hope Valley Heritage Trails
Location: Derbyshire

The community of Hope Valley (including the Parishes of Castleton, Hope and Edale) developed a range of self-guided circular walking routes that take in key heritage points of the local area. The heritage points were identified by community workshops that not only raised awareness and understanding of local heritage but also identifed locations that the local community see as key.

The walks, talks and workshops were developed by the group and aimed at audiences within the three parishes.

The group worked with specialist designers to develop the ideas into a draft map plan and media. They also worked to ensure that the map was available in Braille and audio format and that some of the routes were accessible to pushchairs and wheel chairs.

Phase two of the project focused on the production of the leaflet for the routes and held a celebratory event at the end of the project.
