Restoration of Bailey's Tump
Location: Derbyshire
Bailey's Tump, is is a small raised mound created from spoil of excavation for the Derwent Valley Aqueduct, and was used as an anti aircraft site during the second world war.
The group agreed a fifty year lease for the site. Ungrazed for 20 years, the group cleared the site of grass and brambles, and re-instated walls alongside a contractor. Volunteers erected a new fence.
An interpretation board was fitted, and a leaflet was produced. The project featured on a local council website and was celebrated at an opening event.
