The Great Hucklow Lead Legacy
Location: Derbyshire

The Great Hucklow village partially owes its existence to its geological situation on the important lead vein running from Tideslow to Eyam. Along this vein (or Rake) from Windmill through to the parish boundary on Bretton Edge, there are dozens of old mines and associated workings.

Some of these could still be traced and people with local knowledge could still recall details of mines. The project captured these. High Rake Mine was being excavated by the Peak District Mines Historical Society during this project.

The project involved the local community in the creation of a heritage trail which took in the main features of the lead heritage and included three interpretation boards along the way. Then group also produced a book and a website.
