Castleton Final Report [727 kb] pdf

Then & Now
Location: Derbyshire

This project investigated the customs and traditions of the village of Castleton to increase interest in the area's heritage.

The group analysed the census returns from 1841-1901 and established links between people listed and present residents. They also carried out a reminiscence project and made audio records of village events such as their historic Garland ceremony.

Local photographs were conserved and digitised to produce displays. A CD ROM was produced to open the group's meeting to a wider audience.
