Melton Mowbray has a history of 1000 years of markets, hiring fairs and sites of 5 market crosses. This is a fundamental part of its heritage as Melton existed to service the needs of the surrounding farming area.
The project will give people the opportunity to find out more about the Fairs and Markets through a wide range of activities including researching historical records, oral history, reenactments, traditional local dances and market crafts.
