The Horsepool
Location: Leicestershire

This successful project involved the restoration and management of a natural area within the village of Burbage, known as the Horsepool. It was used as a stopping off point for horses and carriages travelling to and from the north of England. The community raised funds to purchase the site and worked with the local authority, a conservation consultant and a disability access officer to ensure the plans were appropriate. The natural features are now restored and there is enhanced access for all.
