The Second Book and Video of Leverton a Lincolnshire Marshland Village
Location: Lincolnshire

We felt there is still much information in, and history of the village that can be gleaned and recorded for future generations to read of, many years from now. Hence a follow on 2nd Book and Video of Leverton. However, once again, constraints of size and ultimately cost are a deciding factor in how far we travel in this, our second publication concerning the history of our village.

Farming, too, has changed much over the last 15 or 20 years and we wish to cover some of the changes in, and the fortunes of farming over that period.

We also intend to produce another D.V.D. video of filmed views of the village but this time with a slight difference, namely: most still images displayed on the disc will be of high-resolution colour images taken fairly recently in the village. Our intention is; to film as many scenes, as is practical within the village, to serve as a record of the village as it is today for future residents and other interested parties. The book will include many aerial views of the village, too.

The filmed footage is intended to cover the whole village from all the outer boundaries: north; south; east and west, following on with many views of the interior of the village with the intention of having an overview of the whole area as it is today in 2006, that will be recorded for future generations of Leverton Parishioners, and indeed for those further afield, and also those who take interest in this type of work. There is much more work involved with the production of this book and video so all Group members will be freely giving of their time to achieve the finished product quality we are looking for. There will, of course, be Group member appearances and 'voice – overs' to clarify and indicate where we are within the village boundaries.

Again, as well as the interests of our Parishioners and the historian, we have the family genealogist firmly in mind and it is our aim to continue with a number of names of families who lived, farmed and worked here through the last 150 years or so.

Reference to at least some of the subjects mentioned in the previous publication is inevitable, but we have tried to keep these to a minimum, asking you occasionally to refer to the first publication where we think it might be beneficial for clarification.

We hope you all enjoy this offering as much as you obviously did the last one. It will most certainly be more difficult than the previous project, as that will take some following, but we will do our best to bring you something new, informative and interesting.
