Spratton Churchyard Project
Location: Northamptonshire

The aim of the project is to raise awareness of the rich heritage contained in the churchyard of St. Andrew's Spratton.

The work includes research and restoration of the 14C Preaching Cross, restoration of some of the oldest graves and research into the families they belong to, recording of inscriptions, research and recording of the lichens on the gravestones and the wildflowers in the churchyard.

A celebration event will include a re-enactment of how the preaching cross was used.

An exhibition in the church will keep people informed of progress.

The results from the research will be published in an explanatory booklet which will be distributed free of charge to all local people.

The group are working closely with other local groups and have sought expert advice on the restoration work, research, recording data and the natural heritage.
