Paulerspury Play Project
Location: Northamptonshire
Thanks to a grant from the Local Heritage Initiative and a donation of £100 from Paulerspury Parish Council, Paulerspury and Pury End residents, past and present, are able to learn more about their heritage, in a variety of ways, over the next 12 months.
Following revelations in the book published by the Victorian County History Society on the Cleyley Hundred, an author, Paul Drewitt, was approached to write a play based on the facts relating to Paulerspury and Pury End.
When the LHI was approached for funds they encouraged expansion of the project so that many other people were able to exercise their talents and thus provide more for the community to enjoy and benefit from.
The first event was an evening at Paulerspury Village Hall on Friday, 14th November, organised by the Towcester History Society and the Paulerspury History Group to illustrate the various aspects of life throughout the past 200 years (see separate page report).
The children of Paulerspury Primary School will be writing poems to illustrate the differences between the social classes.
Mr Len Goff, a well known local artist, has produced an iconographic map of the village which depicts events, people and locations. This painting has been reproduced in order that prints can be sold - a wonderful Christmas present!
