The project involved the research, restoration and care of a historic water feature in the village of Wellow, Nottinghamshire.
The dam, which contains a water feature on common land in the village, is believed to be of mediaeval origin. This had become eroded, compromising the structure and the surrounding natural environment.
The group used traditional methods and materials to restore the dam, whilst providing the community with an opportunity to learn about its past and construction.
The project also involved upgrading a track enabling easier access for all, and providing interpretative material, as well as producing a ten year management plan for future care.
