Generations of Spice
Location: Bedfordshire

The project aims to explore and document the cultural traditions of people of African and Caribbean origins living in Luton, Bedfordshire. This will be explored using a variety of methods, such as, storytelling, recipe books, songs and photographs.

The group will encourage local volunteers, especially older residents, to recount their favourite stories, recipes, songs, etc., which will be published as booklets, on a web site and in themed exhibition days. Local people, especially those who are at risk of exclusion such as young people, lone parents, etc, will be encouraged to get involved in researching their own heritage and raising their awareness of their own customs and traditions.

Booklets will be distributed free to local people, and deposited in schools, libraries and community centres, and events and exhibitions will be open to all and advertised widely via the local press.
