Castle Close Wildlife and Heritage Site
Location: Bedfordshire

Castle Close comprises of a variety of habitats, but a lack of management over the years has caused the site to become degraded. This project aims to develop the wildlife and heritage of Castle Close, and to reclaim the land for public access.

Within this site is a scheduled monument, an earthwork consisting of a circular moat and island. consent has been granted for construction of a causeway across the moat to enable visitors to access, understand and enjoy the earthwork without damaging the site. Conservation work will be undertaken. The project will increase the awareness of natural archaeological heritage of the site.
