South Boundary Wall Renovation
Location: Bedfordshire

The aim of the project is to restore two sections of the south boundary wall of the churchyard and to create a new access ramp for wheelchair users.

The local Women's Institute will carry out a survey of the churchyard, its gravestones and their inscriptions. There will be a photographic survey of the churchyard as it is now, and local research to collect photographs of how it was, along with stories and reminiscences about the church, churchyard and the village generally.

The local school will undertake research into the church, churchyard and wall. They will research famous people and incidents associated with the church. The children will also interview older members of the community for information about former times.

All this research will culminate in an exhibition in the church during the annual flower festival. This will include a pageant of church and village history, complete with music and songs written especially for the occasion by a local composer.

The results of research will also be disseminated through talks to local organisations, guided tours of the church, and on the village web site.
