Streatley Village Pond Restoration
Location: Bedfordshire

The project proposes to restore the village pond of Streatley. The pond is located on the route of the Icknield Way and evidence suggests it has been in existence for more than 150 years. Local residents will be encouraged to research and investigate the role the pond has had in village life over the years and any links it may have with the ancient route. A leaflet and interpretation board will be designed to record the findings. Local volunteers and contractors will help in the restoration process of the pond, seating will be provided and an interpretation board installed.

Local children will be invited to participate in a painting and poetry competition and this work will be used in the interpretation. There will be a celebration of the project at a village fete, which will include a local heritage guided walk. The leaflet will also identify other points of local heritage interest and will be circulated free to local residents, local libraries and information points
