Two Moors Heritage Project
Location: Bedfordshire
This project is raising awareness of a group of heritage sites near Flitwick, in Bedfordshire. The project is: - producing a map/booklet;
- waymarking a circular walk, the "Two Moors Heritage Trail";
- desiging and installing interpretation boards at significant locations (some on a Site of Special Scientific Interest);
- installing new, "easy access", kissing gates;
- and finally the project is making surface improvements to paths where necessary.
The project is also working on an exhibition to be held at the local library, and to coincide with the launch and inaugural walk of the trail.
A future second phase of the project will involve: - talks to local groups;
- expert-led visits to some of the sites;
- interviews with local residents to collect stories and reminiscences;
- and a resource project pack for local schools.
Data gathered by the project will also be made available in phase 2 in a variety of media for use by local schools and history groups.
