"Abbotsley" An Illustrated Village Project
Location: Cambridgeshire

The group will carry out research into the history and cultural heritage of Abbotsley, then raise local people’s awareness and understanding of it through an exhibition.

Material used will include an existing private collection of photographs, which will be copied and made available digitally. Medieval documents on Abbotsley held at Balliol College, Oxford, will be translated and used in the exhibition.

Reminiscences will be gathered from older residents, and photographs of current village scenes and events will be included.

The project will also produce CD-Roms, a video and travelling displays.

Local Community Involvement / Partnerships:
The local community, volunteers and local school will be actively involved throughout the project: schoolchildren will dress up as famous local characters, etc. The applicants will also encourage local playgroups, WI, etc. to take part in the project.
