Eltisley History Awareness Initiative
Location: Cambridgeshire

This is a two phase project. Phase 1 is producing a millennium book recording the history of the village and the village as it is in the year 2000.

Phase 2 involves the setting up of a local history group to investigate and research the history of the village further. This group is holding lectures, collecting available information and undertaking archaeological and aerial photographic surveys and oral history.

Research into trees planted in the village as a war memorial is also being undertaken. The findings are being disseminated through interpretation boards, leaflets and events, including a specially-scripted storytelling event to engage local young people and a final exhibition.

A taped "talking" version of the book from phase 1 is also being produced for visually-impaired people with entries read by local children.
