The major aim of the Huntingdon 800 project was to produce a multimedia website presenting the work of students at school and that of students of a somewhat older age.
The schools explored the histories of their immediate environments. Members of the Huntingdon U3A delved into the history of the Huntingdon Literary and Scientific Institution, now the Commemoration Hall. Members of the Huntingdonshire Local History Society researched the history of the old village school in Hartford.
The website Huntingdon800.org.uk was launched in October 2005 and has become a model for projects elsewhere in Cambridgeshire. Topics covered by the schools include, practical archaeology, Cromwellian times, Huntingdon hospitals, Hinchingbroooke House and a love triangle, Samuel Pepys, the earlier locations of current schools, the Roman Ermine Street and the Butts with its archery.
Currently work is proceeding on two publications ' A History of the Commemoration Hall ' and ' A Town Trail of Educational Establishments in Huntingdon '
