Leverington Road Cemetery Regeneration
Location: Cambridgeshire

This project involves a community group in the restoration of a disused local cemetery. Furthermore, local people are researching significant families and graves at the site. The Cemetery is of particular interest as it has links to a seafaring past, being near to the old port of Wisbech.

The collected research is being presented on site via an information board and in a leaflet/booklet which is being made available locally.

Local people are taking part in restoration activities by improving access, through habitat management and by clearing and restoring the original structure of the grounds.

A stone mason is being employed to undertake restoration of important gravestones.

The project is also providing activities for young people with disabilities and for students from a nearby college.
