Roman Road Enhancement Project
Location: Cambridgeshire

The Roman Road is a linear feature running from the outskirts of Cambridge to Horseheath, covering a distance of 15km. The site covers a total area of 30 hectares of which half is within SSSI.

The 3 main project objectives are:
  • protection of the site;
  • promotion of access;
  • habitat enhancement.

    The group wishes to continue the limited amount of work that has been carried out on the site on habitat management and access promotion.

    Proposed activities on site will include:
    • scrub clearance and management to allow a key Biodiversity Action Plan habitat (chalk grassland) to thrive once again;
    • production and installation of interpretation boards;
    • creation of guided leaflets and walks.
