But for such men as these [774 kb] pdf

Soham on the Home Front
Location: Cambridgeshire

The Soham on the Home Front project has updated and reprinted the book ‘But for Such Men As These’ describing the Soham rail disaster of the Second World War.

This will be followed by the collection of wartime memories and archive material from the community, prompted by exhibitions and museum days. Children from the three Soham schools will participate and conduct interviews. This research will be published in a book ‘Soham on the Home Front’.

An interpretative artwork, representing the impact of the war on the village, will be produced from ideas submitted by the community. The archive will be available on a website and a video recording made of the project and distributed free to schools, the local library and museum. All archive material will be lodged at the museum and copies sent to record offices and libraries.
