The Sawtry project is now almost complete with all six walks leaflets available in plastic wallets and the two interpretation boards sited within the village – one on The Green and the other at the car park leading to St Judith’s Field – the start point for many of the walks.
Planter seats have been placed throughout the village and the hand carved English Oak benches have just been received and will be placed on the footpaths as soon as possible. These benches are made by craftsmen and for each bench purchased an oak tree is planted. Still to do is the way marking to some of the paths.
The walks leaflets have been used by various uniformed organisations such as the Scouts and Brownies and also by the schools as a basis for local studies. Local walking groups have also received sets and they are available from the Parish Council office, local library and nearby parks and hotels.
Take a Walk week starts on Monday June 26th and a councillor will lead a different walk each evening (weather permitting) finishing at one or other of the two village hostelries!
