30 April 2006
Grouting Day
Venue: Philip Morant School & College

On 30 April 2006, over 60 of the schoolchildren's companion mosaics were grouted. With direction from Anne Schwegmann-Fielding and help from volunteers, a messy but rewarding day was had by all.

The children's work was of an excellent standard and some example pictures are attached. The design brief was threefold - each piece of work had to reflect the roman heritage of Colchester, take inspiration from the work of Anne Schwegmann-Fielding and also to say something about themselves. Finally each piece was bounded by a roman border.

The work will now be stored prior to going on display when the roman chariot racing mosaic is handed over to the borough council - the pieces will then be displayed around The Philip Morant School
