Progress as at 1st December 2005
Location: Essex
In the month since the first tesserae were laid, over 250 children have learnt all about the roman chariot racing circus at Abbeyfields and also learnt how to make a mosaic. Anne Schwegmann-Fielding has held one workshop with Year 10 pupils with a further workshop scheduled for early December. Almost 100 history students heard a presentation from Howard Brooks (of CAT) on roman medicine and also had a chance to handle objects found in the Stanway roman doctors grave.
Progress on the roman mosaic has been excellent and the quality of the work is very good. Several people have come forward to assist with the project and this is before the Open Days have been held. So far so good.....
