Second half almost finished!!
Location: Essex

The second half of the mosaic - depicting roman chariot racing at Abbeyfields Colchester - is almost complete

Now that school has broken up for the summer holidays, the volunteer community is hard at work finishing the second half of the mosaic. Amazing progress has been made since we started in May and we are almost at the stage when grouting can begin. Several Work Experience Students have also learnt the skill of mosaic making.

Despite some apprehension about the scale of the task, we have almost finished laying some 200,000 tiles - many many thanks again to all those involved - especially the staff and students of The Philip Morant School & College for hosting the project. Terrific support has also been provided by Kevin Flower, Christine Roberts, Tessa Sagar, John Jones and Shirley Herring.

Many volunteers have contributed to the project but special mention should be made of Sara Green, Bella Pearce, Brenda May and Margaret Gooderham - all of whom have shown terrific dedication to the project throughout the last year. Thanks again - here's to the next project!
