Chelmer River Valley Project
Location: Essex

The project will involve local young people in research, survey and public consultation leading to the creation of a management plan for a section of the Chelmer river valley.

The group intends to employ a consultant to train the young people, and provide specialist guidance on ecological management and consultation techniques.

Proposed activities for the young people include: carrying out ecological surveys; survey on current use of the site; public consultation; historical research; production of a video, displays and leaflets; creation of dramas/animated walks; design and installation of interpretation boards. The group also intends to begin implementing some of the practical management proposals on the site with the young people, to show that their conclusions are being taken seriously.
