The project involves the writing up, and preparation of, reconstruction drawings from the archaeological excavations at Cressing Churchyard. The local archaeological society is publishing the findings and presenting them to a wider audience.
A number of specialist reports are being completed as part of this project. The local community is being engaged via a new notice board at the church which describes the finds and their significance; booklets at the church; and articles in the parish magazine.
The group is also holding archaeology open days for children at the local school, an 'in touch with the past' exhibition at Braintree museum, and a touring exhibition which is visiting local libraries.
The project is also creating 'handling boxes', to enable local people, including the visually impaired, to handle artefacts from the site and period.
A school visit, in full Roman legionnaire costume, took place on the 7th of November 2001.
