King Harold Day 2006
Location: Essex

2006 will be the third time that King Harold Day has been staged.

It takes place in the Abbey Gardens at Waltham Abbey on Saturday 14 October, and details about it are given on this page.

Venue: The Abbey Gardens, Waltham Abbey, Essex.

King Harold Day 2006

Saturday 14 October

King Harold Day will take place in the Abbey Churchyard and Abbey Gardens, Waltham Abbey. It will be open to the public between 10.00 am and 4.00 pm.

Ø The main Arena event will be The Knights of Honour, a living history enactment group, who will carry out swordplay.

Ø They will also have their medieval encampment, where they will have their fire and cooking pot. They will have their armour and weapons on display, and will describe them to individual visitors.

Ø There will be medieval music in Waltham Abbey Church. The Church Tower will be open for visitors to climb to the top and view the area, and there will be tours of the site of the old Abbey.

Ø The Schools’ Art Competition entries will be displayed in the Lady Chapel.

Ø Jesters, jugglers and fire eaters, etc will be around the site, and may even end up in the stocks.

Ø Medieval crafts will be demonstrated, and craft work will be on sale.

Ø Epping Archers will be letting adults and children “have a go” at archery.

Ø There will be small animals and birds.

Ø There will be horse and cart rides, with brightly painted carts pulled by heavy horses.

Ø There will be an Ale Tent serving Old English Ales, and there will be appropriate food.
