Reawakening Tollesbury's Heritage
Location: Essex
The project is based on a heritage weekend, scheduled for early October 2004, celebrating 100 years since the opening of the local railway line, known as the “Crab & Winkle Line” (now closed). This will include a community play written and performed by local people highlighting the stories associated with the line, guided walks along the disused line, a wildlife survey of the line and a “plant walk” looking at uncommon plants found locally. Local people will also be asked to fill in a questionnaire about which heritage features they would like to see interpreted in future.
Local people and the local primary school will research various aspects of heritage, and this will lead to the production of interpretation boards, a booklet and two walk leaflets. The project will be recorded throughout by local schoolchildren who will produce a CD ROM of photos and images for the village and LHI web sites.
