To assist the river recover its natural species and enhance spawning and fry survival during Winter floods pools were created alongside the river. These were connected to the river by pipelines to allow fry to come and go from the river to the pool as they feel the need © CPP

Costessey Point Project
Location: Norfolk

The group seeks to improve a stretch of the river Wensum near Norwich. Once a nationally-famous fishery but now neglected.

The proposed works, although primarily aimed at improving the fishery, are holistic and will benefit a wide range of other species as well as providing a suite of ecological, environmental and conservation benefits.

The projects site is a SSSI and the group are working closely with English Nature and the Environment Agency. The project will also develop an interpretation board, leaflets, work with local schools and public open days at the site.

Information about the project will also appear on the group's web site.
