Wayland Church Tours Project
Location: Norfolk

The Wayland area, centred on the market town of Watton, is rural with few facilities, but has a wonderful heritage of 16 medieval churches. The project will involve the local communities in exploring this distinctive heritage, with a view to creating a unique experience of local church tours for local people, visitors and tourists.

The group intends this to promote further research in each village, and set up heritage groups in those communities who will safeguard their historic assets. They will encourage communities to create high quality information, including guide booklets, a promotional leaflet and videos, and to undertake training so they can act as guides to their local heritage for visitors.
