Wymondham Cemetery is an interesting example of a Victorian ornamental cemetery. First opened in 1882, it contains two chapels (listed Grade II), and both they, and the rest of the Cemetery scheme, were designed by the Norwich architect, Edward Boardman.
The project is also part of a much wider plan to create a green corridor, running for four miles through the town, from the Lizard Common to the Tiffey Valley Walk.
The wildlife and natural heritage of the cemetery, together with its historical and architectural interest, are being explained to visitors through interpretation boards in one of the restored chapels.
The second chapel is being restored as a chapel of contemplation, by a local inter-faith group.
