Introduction
Location: Norfolk
Official recorders: the pupils of Yaxham Church of England V.A. Primary School.
We care about our village. It is a very pleasant place to live. People have taken care of it over many hundreds of years, and we want to help preserve that heritage for ourselves and generations to follow.
So, when we found out that the churchyard wall of our Medieval Parish Church of St Peter was falling down, as was the 18th Century table-top tomb by the South Porch, we worked together with the Parochial Church Council, the Parish Council and all the village organisations to set up this Heritage Project.
Aims: to make villagers aware of the history of the church, and churchyard, and why the wall and tomb needed to be restored. to involve as many individuals and groups as possible, contributing skills, time and enthusiasm. to identify, record and celebrate other features of Yaxham's heritage.
