And now ...

Who took part
Location: Norfolk

  • We did!

We learned about the history of the wall and how it was made.
We worked alongside the architect and builder.
We visited the specialist brickmakers who were making the coping stones for the top of the wall.
We made a video survey of the churchyard.
We recorded the progress of the project from start to finish with photographs, writing poems and articles.

  • Yaxham Playgroup
They looked at all the flowers, trees and birds in the churchyard.
They made wall rubbings of the stones in the wall.

  • Yaxham District WI and the Craft Group
Ten ladies took digital photographs of the heritage features, made them into cross-stitch patterns and designed the wall hanging, which took nearly 3000 hours and 338,236 stitches to complete.

  • Parish Council
They designed and produced the Heritage Trail leaflet.

  • Older folk
They told us tales of Yaxham when they were young.

  • PCC and Amenities Committee
They provided us with free on-site accommodation to work in - and drinks and biscuits at half time!

  • A local volunteer electrician
He provided and arranged for the new light to be fixed in the churchyard.

  • Many parents and other volunteers
They gave professional, supervisory and practical support.

  • The Diocesan Architect
  • The builder
  • Reades of Aldeburgh
