World War Two Defences of Clacton
Location: Suffolk

Clacton was one of the towns considered to be at greatest risk of invasion in WW2, and as a consequence was heavily defended. Although this was well within living memory, the location, typology, strategic aspects and survival into the present of many of these defences is unknown.

This project aims to use teams of volunteers, trained and supervised by a professional military historian to track down, record, photograph and assess for statutory protection over 100 defence works in Clacton.
