Phase 1, Kingswood House Video & Tapestries
Location: Southwark

Kingswood House is a Grade II Listed building situated at the centre of the Kingswood Estate, Southwark, London.

There were two phases to this project. This project refers to Phase 1, which involved local youths and children in producing a video of the house and surrounding area. This included their thoughts and views for the future.

Phase 2 (see SE00346) involved local people receiving training in tapestry and working under a professional needlewoman to repair a historical tapestry in the reception area of the house.

A strong theme of both parts of the project was the relationship between the house and the original woodland estate which has mainly disappeared. However, some woodland can still be seen and some of it is used by local people for allotments and walking their dogs.
