Circular Walk Leaflet [702 kb] pdf

East Durham Villages Heritage Trail
Location: Durham

The project is developing an eight mile circular heritage trail which is connecting five ex-coal mining villages in East Durham. The trail is featuring interpretation sites explaining the area's mining past as this played an important part in developing the community culture. A leaflet is being produced to accompany the trail.

The project involves many local groups which are researching and planning the trail and carrying out research to provide the necessary historical information.

The project is also investigating issues of land ownership and improvements to the path. The project is also conducting a sponsored walk event and is seeking expert advice and project support.
