Time Lines in Mid Teesdale
Location: Durham

The applicant proposes working with residents and the local schools to research the social history of the dale. An oral history exercise will be conducted as well as archival investigation to establish the development of the dale, its economic diversification, traditional skills, significant historical events and the development of the 7 largest settlements.

Volunteers from the Parish Planning process will extend their activities and other residents will be encouraged to join in the creation of an exhibition, which will tour the dale and wider area of Teesdale, a booklet featuring reminiscences and photographic material gathered, as well as the establishment of a web site.

To increase the skills base of the community a series of training sessions will be held for both web design and researching techniques. To encourage the widest possible community participation a number of workshops and open days will be held.
