Location: Gateshead
Although information in regard to events in the area can be obtained from
official record sources, in many ways the most important information can only be delivered by the members of the community themselves. This may be in the form of anecdotes in regard to work, school or play of members of their family, or hard material such as letters, photographs, maps, military or work documents, ration books, school reports, old tools etc..
Although these type of items have little commercial value in themselves, they are invaluable to groups such as ours in building up a realistic picture of life as known by our ancestors and preserving it for future generations.
For this reason our project would welcome the donation or loan of any of the above type of items, many of which can be copied and returned intact, if requested.
