Chopwell Wood Heritage Trail
Location: Newcastle Upon Tyne

The project proposes the creation of a 6km heritage trail through Chopwell wood with the installation of 6 interpretive panels, 6 road signs and the production of 2000 promotional leaflets. A web based educational resource pack for schools will be developed. Craft workshops will be held for local residents on subjects such as bush craft, coppicing and dry stone walling.

The local community will receive professional guidance and support to undertake site and access improvement works. An existing forest classroom, previously created by this group will become the focus of a number of community related activities throughout the project.
