Westgate PAST
Location: Newcastle Upon Tyne
The project aims to bring together the multi cultural and multi faith communities of the Westgate area of Newcastle in order to capture their reflections of life as residents and first generation immigrant families.
Volunteers from the area will be recruited and will receive formal training via a series of workshops delivered by a recognised organisation. NVQ levels 1 and 2 in IT, broadcast techniques and research skills will be available.
Computer and recording equipment, plus supporting software, will be purchased to facilitate an extensive oral history exercise which will take place over a period of at least a year. A web site, radio broadcast and DVD/video will be produced with information gathered and a booklet/leaflet will be published. A series of open day events will be held to publicise and conclude the project.
