Ellington Colliery Band
Location: Northumberland

The project's aim is to preserve and continue the tradition of the colliery band as an integral part of local heritage and a focal point for the community.

The grant will enable the group to take part in two national competitions and produce 300 CDs documenting local traditional brass band music and local dialect through recording memories and experiences from the community.

Documented material, along with a photographic collection, will feature in an exhibition at the Woodhorn Colliery Museum. A website and a leaflet produced for distribution at events will further spread awareness.
