Ebay spreads the LHI message
Location: Northumberland

A recent Ebay transaction has helped spread the news about the Local Heritage Initiative overseas.

The mystery shopper bought a teacup on the popular auction site and received the item wrapped in newspaper that included an article about the LHI Haltwhistle Up The Valley, Down The Years project. This project is working to preserve Haltwhistle’s photographic heritage, the memories of local people concerning the Depression and the Second World War.

The shopper was so impressed with the work of the LHI group that he left this message on the LHI website:

“I purchased an article (tea-cup) via E-Bay from a person in your area. It was shipped with newspaper as packing. Seeing it was from England, my curiosity went to reading some of the stories, one being your group's attempt to save history for your village. I think this is great. Kudos to you and your group.

My wife and I will be heading to London next year for our 40th wedding anniversary and I would love to spend a day touring your wonderful village. The photos are so intriguing. Our hometown has old buildings too, some as old as 1799 or so, nowhere the age of your buildings”.
