Gisborough Priory Gardens Project
Location: Redcar and Cleveland
To carry out site clearance and comprehensive surveys of the Priory Garden. With the assistance of volunteers from the local community and school children of all ages the garden will be made more accessible and its architectural and archaeological features will be revealed.
The involvement of relevant professionals at every stage of the survey work will ensure the quality and integrity of the final survey reports which will become the basis of future grant applications.
Topographical, arboricultural, archaeological and architectural surveys will be conducted as well as desk based research. A public meeting and illustrated talks will be given to various community groups and schools to stimulate participation and regular articles will appear in the local press in addition to the group’s own web site. A booklet will be produced which will précis the information gathered during the surveys and chart the site clearance.
