Mammal Action - Tees Valley
Location: Redcar and Cleveland
The project's aims are:- to increase the profile and the general public's awareness of the British Mammal species that live around them in the Tees Valley
- to encourage people to look in their local area and identify where mammals are found
- and where necessary take appropriate action to safeguard/enhance their habitats.
Mammals are an eye-catching and interesting part of Britain’s Natural Heritage. Having the advantage of mainly being cute and fluffy just about everyone has some interest in them. Despite this popularity mammals have suffered greatly under historical land changes and unfortunately most peoples experience today is either through television or dead at the side of the road.
This project aims to identify where mammals are in the Tees Valley (as there is no clear picture at this time) and to show the public where they can go to see them.
Equipping local people with skills to identify mammals is key to this, and enabling local groups to make positive actions to safeguard their local species.
