The Wisdom of Trees
Location: Redcar and Cleveland
This project is highlighting the importance of trees and local people's role in ensuring their survival and growth for the future, particularly the Black Poplar tree which is now rare around Darlington. Locals, including schoolchildren, will take cuttings of Black Poplars, growing them on and replanting them as saplings.
The project will produce a CD of a song written for the project by local folk musician Vin Tarbutt, this will be sold or given away to local groups. Profits will go back into the project.
